We are looking for a dynamic, driven, enthusiastic individual to join Comfort Research as a Product Designer. Here’s what you’ll do:

The Product Designer works with the design team to research the market, ideate new, innovative products, create detailed, accurate specification sheets on both new and old products, and effectively communicate product instructions to business partners overseas. In addition, the Product Designer will champion projects, ensuring that prototypes and samples meet the requirements of the new innovations and intents of the product. This position also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals.

 

A few specifics:

  • Proven Ability to ideate and design key product concepts aligned with the direction of the organization.
  • Coordinate all factory product requirements for production, ensuring correct production sample and relevant specification information is available prior to production Create product line drawings from multiple perspectives, transparent / multi-layer views.
  • Product Bill of materials (examples: fabric specs, zipper specs, stitching specs, branding tag placement and compliance label placements, and more).
  • Create product assembly specifications.
  • Use both digital and physical modeling techniques to pitch new ideas to senior management.
  • Ensure alignment with design and brand standards at a product level, building informed products for their functional end-use.
  • Audit prototype samples; create corrective action documents for revisions when needed.
  • Photograph prototypes in our in-house studio.
  • Organize and back up Specification Documents using existing company format.
  • Work with the Product Development team performing various tasks needed to facilitate the advancement of all projects.
  • Collaborate with our overseas product development team and partners.

 

Here’s what we need you to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in consumer product design with an eye for shape and color.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with different materials and production methods.
  • Empathy for customer value and user experience with consumer products.
  • Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and making ideas and designs into reality.
  • Experience creating drawings and digital designs to express creative ideas, including 3D and physical modeling.
  • Fluent in Adobe CC, most importantly in Adobe Illustrator. (5+ years’ experience.)
  • Highly organized and able to manage files effectively.
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to explain ideas to people with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Highly collaborative with diverse skills for discussing design briefs and understanding feedback from colleagues.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise written presentations.
  • Strong attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work within deadlines and budgets.
  • Knowledge with computer-programmed machinery (ex. CNC) is a plus.
