Summary:

The Commercialization Manager will be responsible for overseeing a diverse cross function team in delivering projects on time by leading the project including Prioritization, Planning, Risk & Issue Management, Documentation, Budget (Cost Work Sheet vs. Actual), Resourcing, Tracking & Reporting, and Stakeholder Management.  Evaluates, designs for manufacturability, executes, measures, monitors and controls commercialization business processes. Work collaboratively across all departments of the organization to help improve the management deliverables of the commercialization process.  Focused on the entire process from beginning to end, introducing innovation into the process that can impact results, enhance profitability and assist the organization to meet its business objectives and goals. International travel may be required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the New Product Request (NPR Form) inputs to ensure the team has clear and concise expectations on customer commitment dates
  • Manages the commercialization process that enables the prioritization of current and new projects to meet on time delivery
  • Manages multiple product innovation projects thru cross-functional teams, ensures the team has appropriate information to make timely decisions, drives alignment to clarify and deliver project objectives
  • Leads team in the proactive scorecard assessment and communication of project risks / status (financial, operational, performance, timing, time studies, BOM accuracy etc.) to the team and drives follow up actions
  • Become a key leader of our team’s product innovation engine at comfort research. Work with internal and external resources to manage complex innovation projects from inception to launch
  • Builds a culture of rapid prototyping and speed to market within the company.
  • Facilitates plant trials, design experimentation practices ensuring proper set-up, ingredients, equipment and other checklist items are in place.
  • Is passionate about lean methodologies and practices the concept of continuous process improvement.
  • Pioneers new systems, standard operating procedures and departmental policies to improve the commercialization process and finished product execution.
  • Utilizes organizational and industry knowledge to leverage internal and external resources in resolving project related issues, hurdles, and roadblocks.
  • Organizes and facilitates pre and post production meetings with key team members reviewing results, next steps and best practices. Captures findings and implements best practices into commercialization process roadmap
  • Monitors productivity to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate to support customer project demands and prioritization
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Sets goals, determines performance expectations, and conducts employee reviews.
  • Mentors other team members to constantly improve the commercialization process and results
  • Encourage a fun, creative and positive work environment.

 

Relevant Key Performance Indicators:

  • Project OTD / Scorecards: Reports the status of prioritization, key milestones and the overall project to key stakeholders
  • Proactive management of all risks relating to projects and follow-up actions assigned to mitigate deliverable risks
  • Monitors Budgeted Cost Sheets to Actual Performance

 

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in related field preferred

Experience in Managing, Leading and Implementing Complex Development Projects

Supervision, Coaching, Training, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Strategic Planning, Critical Decision Making

Advanced computer skills required (Word, Excel and Outlook)

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work with a sense of urgency to meet customer commitments and deadlines

International travel, up to two times quarterly

Must be able to react to rapidly changing market conditions and priorities

Must be able to effectively communicate project status both to internal and external customers
